Re: Ur not in a band but want better than a practice bass am
I recently picked up a used Acoustic b600H for a good price on Kijiji.
It's MASSIVE overkill, in the volume department...
But it's got a volume knob...
and well... man, does it sound good
I was considering picking up one of those plastic mini head things... but I dunno... it just didn't say "AMP" to me.
Call me old-fashioned... but I tried to imaging plugging in to one of those or the Acoustic head in another 20 years...
and yeah. I doubt any of those other things will even be around.

There are several great choices, but here are my picks:
Ampeg B-100R - Don't get the B-200R, the B-100R is plenty loud, a little lighter, and has fewer reliability issues. The only known issue it has is the line-out has a tendency to short out. But it's a cheap fix and since a lot of people don't know that it's an inexpensive fix (and once you bypass the line-out, it's a permanent fix), these end up on sale for dirt cheap all the time. I see the B-100R at gigs a lot, and even guitarists like them. Great for keyboards, too.
Fender Rumble V3 200 (or 500) - These amps are astonishingly good for the price. They look good, too. Best part? They are so light, it's unbelievable. Get the 500 if you want it to be a potential gig amp. Both 200 and 500 are the identical size.

I was going to ask what the general consensus was on the Fender Rumble range, in particularly the 2011 350 model. They seem pretty nice from what I've seen and heard.
If OSG has tort me anything...

I used to use an Acoustic B200 combo with a 15" speaker. I used it mainly for practice at home but used it for a few jazz gigs and a cover band rehearsal when the backline amp took a dump. It was a very fun amp with lots of potential. Matter of fact I'm debating on snagging another one as I'm jonesing on playing some more bass hahaha!

Hummm, that T.C. looks pretty good. I'm without a bass amp....

I like it. It's loud and the sound beam thing is kinda cool. For messing around in the house it's great. The on board tuner is handy too. I picked it up cheap so double win!

Fender Bassman 50 or 70 (your choice, depending on how patient you are) into a 1 x 12 4ohm cabinet. I recently combined a 1973 Bassman 50 head with a 1 x 12 cabinet to build a nice little, vintage practice rig at home. The later Bassman circuits AA371 or the ultralinear ones were cleaner than the earlier stuff and don't break up as quickly.

It's only 4 lbs lighter... I've had one for five years, bought it for $300 brand new and have had zero issues. Just chiming in to say that these are still good amps especially if you get a good deal on them. And yes, it weighs too much, and so does the B-100R.honeyiscool wrote:There are several great choices, but here are my picks:

Thank you!tribi9 wrote:
I must have a slightly newer one, because mine has two soundprint knobs.
