That seems too good to be true, right? This is one of those companies with the kind of reputation that either make a really cheap/shit product or ask that you pay out the nose for something of quality. That being said, these amps fucking look the business, that's for sure.

This is just my guess:
The DR has reverb and trem and independently voiced channels vs a single channel with no verb/trem on the origin. Also, the DRRI is made in Mexico vs Vietnam on the Origin.

Does the 5w combo come with effect loop? I'm a bit confused...

All the NAMM videos said that the whole line comes with an effects loop, that's footswitchable on/off.

I asked the salesman I always go to at my local guitar shop when they'll be getting the Origin series in stock, and he told me mid-April. If it sounds good and doesn't feel cheap, I'm definitely getting an Origin 20 Combo.

Anybody try one yet? I haven't had time with the new job to stop in and play one myself, but I'm really curious.

Picked up a Marshall Origin 20C (combo) today. It sounded great at the store, but I don't like playing guitar in front of a quiet room of salesman. I stated in the Good Things thread, I got $90 off the amp for helping my salesman/friend with another sale.

My first Marshall, and also the first amp I've ever had that didn't have a reverb built-in. Kinda strange to me, but I've got a great reverb on my board, so no worries. It came with a really beefy footswitch that switches the boost on/off and the effects loop on/off. For being very well-priced (MSRP for the 20C is $650, and I got it for $560 + tax), the cabinet feels very solid.

I got home, plug in my pedals, and crank it a bit more than I did at the store. Sounds glorious! EXACTLY what I want when I want "that Marshall tone". Sounds great at pretty much every volume I set it at, sounds great with all my gain and other pedals. The 3-way output wattage switch is super cool, and for the 20C is about 0.5W/3W/20W. It's definitely a boost of volume between medium and high output, but sounds good in each of the output modes. The boost on with master volume up a bit is similar to what I think of as classic Marshall amp crunch: not high gain, but a good bluesy/classic rock-ish break up. When I turned on the Naga Viper, it was just amazing; bit of a bigger boost in gain and just awesome.

It doesn't feel like it's overabundant with features, but the things it has I'll use. Well, except the footswitchable FX loop. Haha. I'm at the point now that I wish every amp I owned or will own, had the output wattage switch. That is crazy useful.

Damn, thought id got over wanting this amp, but now I'm feeling it again!

I'm mostly a "bedroom player" these days, so output in the range of 3-5 watts suits me nicely, but it's great to have the 20 watt option for the occasional jam session with others.

I've been playing it in the medium output (+/-4 watts), but the low wattage option is like 0.5 watts which also sounds great.

I'd definitely say to try one out. You might like it.

I keep changing my mind between wanting the origin 20C and the jubilee 2525C.......it's a tough life!

For half the price of the Jubilee, I'd definitely say the Origin might be worth looking into. I'd never even heard of the Jubilee. Had to look it up. Pretty cool looking though!

Yeah the price difference is massive, presumably because the 2525C is made in England and the Origin isn't. (Btw, I'm not suggesting this makes one better than the other!)

The 2525C (by most reports) sounds pretty damn awesome, and also has a low power switch. The slightly convoluted gain section does put me off a little, whereas I love the simplicity of the Origin control panel.

I also love your comments about the sound of the Origin in the crunch zone which is where I spend the majority of my playing time.

In terms of looks, both the Origin and Jubilee look great, although very different. Maybe the Origin just has the edge there, with its classic styling.

Hmm....Im leaning more towards the Origin now....haha.

Hahaha I know what you mean. My Peavey Delta Blues would've been just fine on its own, but I've wanted a Marshall or something with that sound for a LONG time.

Only thing I'll say is to try it in person. I usually listen to online demos to get a rough baseline for things, and there are almost NO good demos out there for the Origin. Brett Kingman has a decent one, but he has it almost cranked the whole time, and I use the clean quite a bit. It was a decent demo, but they are few and far between for the Origin series.
