Hey y'all, just got a rad new Benson Chimera. 30watts, and a whole lotta tubes. I have it set to give the bell like piano resonance of a silverface twin, but the punch and break up of an AC30. My options are limited to Celestion and Eminence in Norway. I find Eminence's website easier to hear a variety of sounds through each speaker, and i'm really liking the Private Jack. It has that bell like chime i look for, but then what to pair it with in a 2x12?
I play a blend of alternative rock, 60's pop rock, and 60s instrumental music. But with my penchant for classic rock i do love a good creamback tone now and then. Would they work together?
My local dealer suggested a Celestion greenback paired with a vintage 30, but i've always found Celestions to be super bright, and almost shrill. Where the Eminences i've had have been very balanced and fair sounding. But I am looking for suggestions. So please school me. Ideas?

The Greeback is bright. Great speaker if you want bright.. I use them in my Vox AC10C1. The Alnico Blue isn't as bright & is a great sounding Speaker. It is my first choice in Celestion speakers & are what I have in my Vox AC15CC1X....
The Eminance are great as well.. I have them in my Twin...
Sometimes I play both Amps in Stereo... Great Sound!
You're on the right Track!

Tonespotter might make a nice counterpoint to the Private Jack. Based on the G12-65, apparently. I'm very happy with mine.

Re: Eminence Private Jack pairings and speaker suggestions
If you can try one locally, maybe look at the wheelhouse 150, it's their new hemp cone with a neodymium magnet 12". I just put a wheelhouse 200 (the 15") in a 1x15 and it sounds surprisingly "older" than I would expect from a neo magnet. There aren't many videos of it on YouTube but it seems to be a slightly darker, fairly even response neo variant.
My main gig cab is a closed back Avatar cab with 2x Lil' Texas, probably one of their brightest speakers. This is much more even, but it's a 1x15 open back and I'm not sure which differences come from size, cab form, etc. Sounds quite nice though.

I'd try the Eminence Cannabis Rex. It's got a nice smooth top end and is about the same loudness/sensitivity as the Private Jack.
Plus the the CR is more "American" voiced than the PJ. Then you can mic whichever speaker you want for a different sound.
