New amps that I'd like if I like old amps?

Make it loud here.

Probably a Super Reverb Reissue, or a pair of them, if I can swing it.

Impeccable. As always, Brad.

YBA1mod1 maybe?

Uses a circuit board in place of all the point-to-point stuff which may/may not affect the toan one's after. Dunno myself. I've heard plenty of vintage ones but this new version is the only head I've ever owned because of the master vol type attenuator. Diming it at 1or 5w Image at home!

Not giging it, but I dig it.

Right, roadworthiness is a fairly big concern here, and an attenuator is only "one more thing to break" (absolutely no utility in my application).

Thanks though!

When I daydream about going back in time and starting my whole band thing over "knowing now what I didn't know then," I generally imagine getting a Fender Super Reverb. For my tastes it's the best stage amp that can get kinda loud.

I had a Silverface one with the BF mods.. One of the speaker cones was ripped so I got a new set of 10" speakers... however... it was the early days of the internet and I was clueless. I got four Eminence PA speakers. :-[ It still sounded pretty good, so I never really thought much about it. Eventually gave it to my nephew-- I sorta miss it, and I doubt he still has it.

You're welcome for that amazing story. I hope you get those Supers.

I have a silverface no-master volume Super Reverb that had been reduced to a head by the previous owner. I rebuilt it with a Weber cab and four Weber signature 10" speakers. It was my main amp for years, I love the thing, but I kind of regret not having rebuilt it as a 2x10", Vibrolux style.

Love those Super Reverbs!!! You must be playing larger Venues.. Are you playing them together (stereo) or is one for back up??

Good choice....

If this works out, one would be a backup.

Swart? I really love their amps, and find them to be more Fender in their voicing.
They did cross my mind. But I'm not sure they'll be QUITE the right thing in this instance. I'd love if there was a 2x12 or 4x10 or even a 3x10 sort of setup

You could go with an AST head matched with a non-Swart 2-12 cabinet of some sort.

We're at totally different ends of the spectrum in terms of usage/needs, but having gone through a hell of a lot of amps, new and old, before coming to the duality of SFPR and Swart Atomic Space Tone, I think the AST may be a good option if you're able to lay your hands on the right cabinet to work with it.

Cool!

Yeah, I don't think that's going to be the solution for me this time, just for simplicity's sake. And I do supposedly have a thing in the works which I'll see how it turns out!

My main motive here is to avoid taking my own (vintage) amps on the road for too long (for a variety of reasons, not all of which are related to value/replaceability).

Vintage Sound amps are worth considering. The main dealer for them is Humbucker music. They're affordable for a boutique amp and they offer Fender style amps from Princeton copies all the way up to Twin Reverb size amps. They're slightly tweaked versions of Fender amps. I had the Princeton copy and it was great. It was dead quiet, had to make sure I had taken it off of standby. Some of the tweaks on the Princeton were 12" speaker and dwell control on the reverb. They also come stock with TAD tubes. Sounds like you already know what direction you are going but thought I'd mention it since I think it fits the bill well. They're the most fairly priced boutique amp out there.

That's a good thought. I wasn't aware of them, so I'm glad to have them on my radar... it's the exact kind of thing that could be a good fit.

The ideal situation for me would be a loan of two amps for the duration of a tour. This is the kind of thing that's probably more-feasible for a larger company, but who knows.

Most Retailers like MF, GC, Sweetwater & others have a 45 day no hassle Return Policy... You can't beat them up but you wouldn't do that to Loaners either.. Might be worth it going that Route... You actually try them out while on Tour. If they work, keep them. If they don't Return or Exchange them for something else...

Just to wrap this up--

I gave Victoria a hard look, but thanks to the wonderful people at Fender, ultimately was able to secure 2x Super Reverb reissues.

I've been using them in rehearsals over the past week, and they're just what I need. I really look forward to playing them over the next 18 months or so on tour. Sometimes rather than getting too esoteric or fancy, it's best to just go with the tried-and-true.

Thanks everyone for their suggestions!
