Sunn Alpha 115
Would you drive four hours (and back) for a cheap one? How close do these sound to a Beta Lead, and how much will I still want the Beta?
King Buzzo: I love when people come up to me and say “Your guitar sound was better on Stoner Witch, when you used a Les Paul. “...I used a Fender Mustang reissue on that, dumbass!

Re: Sunn Alpha 115
if it's in great shape, it could be. it'll be loud for sure and give you an idea of if you want to live in the neighborhood. I like 15" speakers for guitar, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. If you are tuning down and getting loud, you'll be a fan.
Beta leads are worth tracking down, but finding the right cab can be make or break with it. I had one for a minute and enjoyed it, but I was also pushing a sunn 6x12 with it. Using with my Marshall 4x12, it was pretty underwhelming. Since my main amp is a model t (which sounds amazing with any cab), it was surplus requirements and I sold the head for what I bought the head and cab for.
