I've been absentee here (and IRL) since I had a kid. But I had to share NAD Fender Princeton Reverbs. The one on the left is a 1970 and is mostly stock. The one on the right is a 1969 with some mods.

Which one sounds better to you?

I tried two Silverface PRs in a guitar store and one was clearly better to my ears. It had a Celestion speaker and some other stuff. Way beefier than the other one; it cost a bit more but it was worth it.

Having a kid will do that to you! One of my fondest memories of my son's earliest years is him toddling around my 77 PR as I played through it at ultra-low volumes. I guess that’s what happens when you share the same playroom.

I had planned on buying only one, but they both sounded so different and were set up so different. The price was about the same as a used PRRI, so I felt like I could get my money out of it even if they were hacked up on the inside. Turns out, both are pretty decent. They've been players, some caps or other components have been replaced, some reversible mods, etc. I had thought about running a stereo rig, but I'm probably going to set the 1969 up as stock as possible and let it go. I'll keep the 1970 with whatever mods suit me...but probably just a different speaker. In the end, my wife is right that a stereo Princeton setup is something I had never mentioned ever, but having 4 figure $'s is something I've talked about all the time. And it's because of this little dirty monster.
