Crate VTX series are totally underrated in this application. They sound really good and are very flexible. 3 channels of great gigging sounds with good programmable effects with tap tempo.

My college girlfriend also fits the description.

Haha, nice.

I played a Crate bass amp once, a small combo but don’t remember the name. It was a badass, loud little amp. I assume the guitar amps are similar.

I am still advocating for the Fender Mustang amp series. The amp models of the Fender amps are really good if you don’t use too many of the built in effects and the 2x12“ model is really LOUD! Live it has the advantage of stereo XLR line out. Give it a try - it’s reasonably priced, lightweight and sounds good. Not great, I have to admit, but good is better than most cheap loud solid state amps, in my opinion.

Red Knob Fender Amps. You can find them cheap and they are pretty good, don't knock unless you try it.
Agreed. Sound really good, don't have the "vintage" prices..yet.

I think that stuff sounds pretty bad. Definitely a budget fender is going to be better than that.

You haven’t tried a VTX. Your loss.

More than happy to try out anything new. But pretty sure I won't be replacing my ac30 with a crate anytime soon ;) Will check it out when music stores reopen though!

I don’t think I’ve ever played a Crate guitar amp.

But for a relatively small cube (compared to my Redhead), that Crate bass amp I played was pretty loud, and probably 1/4 to 1/3 of the price of my Redhead.

It wouldn’t replace my Redhead or my Hartke combo, but it would be a good first affordable combo amp, or an effective practice backup for cheap.

Crates are fairly common and cheap here... I'll take a look! My dad had one for acoustic guitar and it sounded great
