Mojotone kits?
I'm thinking about doing the 5e3 kit when I get my tax return. Seems to be decent quality stuff. Anyone build one of these kits?

I’ve never used their kits but when I was building my 5e9 a few years back, they were great with helping me source parts. I imagine that you could order with confidence.

I built one of their Bluesbreaker kits a number of years ago. It was a fairly process and the instructions were well laid out. It worked well and sounded amazing. Unfortunately, the amp is misnamed -- Backbreaker would be more appropriate. Sold it on, and while I miss the sound of it, the weight was something I struggled with.

I built a JTM45 using some of their parts before. Everything was good quality for the most part. I went with different transformers and some other odds and ends. Their chassis and faceplates were nice.

I've been curious about these too. How do people feel about buying them secondhand - too chancy?

It's always a crap shoot buying something like this secondhand. Some good interior photos can give a ROUGH idea of what to expect as far as quality goes. Most good builders will use neat lead dress and leave other telltale clues. Not ALWAYS, but it can help guide you. I'd be cautious myself. An amp is a bit bigger buy in than a pedal.
