NAD - Marshall SV20H
long story short, I now own a Marshall SV20H Custom Shop/Marshall Design store head, in purple. it more or less matches the 4x12 cab i picked up for $600 a few weeks ago, which is pretty cool.
the head came from Peach Guitars in the UK. I had the transformer switched over from 220V to 110V for $80 and now i've got plexi tones for daaaaaaaaays! it is KILLER.
I am currently running it jumpered as many people do, and i'm digging it! I also picked up a JHS little black amp box which lets me crank it without getting tinnitus and scaring the dog
I might actually be set for amps for the next 15 years of my life (yeah right...?) with my EVH 5150 for high gain, this SV20H for medium gain and classic rock tones (plus i feel like i can get some gorgeous cleans and it's probably a solid pedal platform), and a Fender Vibroverb for clean cleans...
I'm curious to see how I will be able to incorporate this into when i'm tracking guitars for my metal project... maybe with a boost for some extra gain...
only thing I want to change cosmetically is swap out the plate for a script logo

Huh, I had no idea these (and the SV20C combo) were a thing - looks great!

Clips of these sound really impressive. Glad Marshall finally did the thing people have been asking them to do for oh... I dunno... a few decades.

Very true! And I’m glad I can scratch the plexi itch with a UK made head without quite having to budget for a vintage super leadstevejamsecono wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 4:05 amClips of these sound really impressive. Love it! I’ve been eyeing up an SC20 for a long time.
The only thing that’s held me back is single channel, and also I have a feeling these are a bit bigger & heavier than your average lunchbox head.
How would you find carrying the SC20 if you had a guitar & pedalboard slung over your other shoulder?

I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

It’s one of the lightest heads I’ve ever carried. It weighs absolutely nothing. I was concerned the box was empty when it showed up.

Re: NAD - Marshall SV20H
Yeah, no problem lugging this, a guitar, and pedalborad for me and I have serious back problems. I've had an SV20h for quite awhile now. It's a brilliant amp -- I can't find a bad setting on it.
For fun, I dial it in with say, a Firebird, and then play a Jazzmaster or strat on the same settings. Still sounds magnificent. I then start all over again with one of those guitars and mic and match. There is a lot of magic in this amp -- just switching the jumpering configuration yields endless joy and infinite new tones.
Enjoy.

Gorgeous and purple! I had the SC20, still one of my favorite amps of all time. Both SV and the SC are killer guitar amps and can be used as a DI head with no speaker if I remember correctly. (Or maybe that was the Origin?)

I haven’t tried that yet but I will definitely have to check out the DI optionthisisnickpaige wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 7:36 amGorgeous and purple! Just double check that it’s the SV/SC and not just the Origin before you fry the amp. As I’m type, I have this feeling it may have just been the Origin. But just check the manual or Google it. Let us know!

SV/SC have level DI out with speaker emulation but you still need can connected.
I might have just bought an SC20

Re: NAD - Marshall SV20H
i wish it didn't have the emulation so i could run a cab emulation in my DAW but that's all good!sal paradise wrote: ↑Wed Jul 05, 2023 11:20 pmSV/SC have level DI out with speaker emulation but you still need can connected.

YES! Love to see these mini heads getting some love. What a great idea, eh? I've had 'em all and can't say enough good things about'm.
Interesting. So the SC/SV need cab connected, then it must be that Origin can go completely silent without speaker. Or something along those lines. Don't sleep on the Origins, they produce a killer sound at a great price. Plus shoot, they look classy.

Home with this. It does everything I always wanted from a Marshall. Except maybe 2 channels, but I’ll learn how to use a volume knob on my guitar. Forgot that it’s also a silly colour!

that's a beautiful color!! i'm really enjoying diving in to using my volume knob after running on amps that have switchable channels
and you're also a lefty! sweeeet
that's a gorgeous black beauty. i have an older epi that looks just like it.. maybe i'll have to go take a photo of it in front of my SV20H now
