It shouldn't be a hole, it's the potentiometer you turn to adjust the bias. You need to use a flat-head screwdriver to turn the shaft, I assume that they didn't use the normal longer shaft ( ) so that you wouldn't bump it and screw up the bias.

I'll go with these guys on it being a Bias tuner pot.....
