By the way, why is this all the rage now? I mean, it sounds good, but only the expensive implementations, and I find it's quite limited in where to actually use it.

Fuck you! >:(

My ambient concept album dedicated to slow motion videos of space travel and coral reef scuba diving is very-well suited for endless shimmering.

I said this long ago when it first got really popular - it just sounds so over the top and synthetic, I guess if the shimmer isn't too high in the mix it can add a nice quality but otherwise, not a fan.

I think it might be because it used to be a pretty expensive and exclusive effect to achieve. Something a little bit 'special' and 'magic.'
Now it can be done cheaply, people are going a bit nuts for it.

There are whole Youtube channels with just this sort of stuff. I must say, I didn't even want to find out...

But thanks for your interpretation on the popularity, OndrakGuy. I guess shimmer reverb also fits with the current indie scene, so might be a product of (former) exclusivity and being in the right spot at the right time.

Shimmer will be the 80s chorus effect of 2025.

Everyone will be playing Oceana guitars that have Moog electronics with built in modulation and delay that responds to your movements and wondering "Why did they bother?"

:?

ALSO: I'm buying a chorus pedal soon - In hindsight I probably shouldn't have offloaded that 'really old' yet mint Boss CE-2 for $30 all those years ago.

Flanger, chorus, any distortion pedal, and most boss pedals.

:D

I have meticulously studied my entire music collection and I happen to know that none of the songs I like, or have ever liked, contain any of these pedals.

I even have developed an app that, if you play a song, it has an algorithm, or as I like to call it, an algorhythm, that will ensure that none of the offending pedals are present and the song is then approved for the listener's apparent cool level.

It was a tough task, but I can guarantee that your songs have no original Klons in them. Klones are cool though.

Check it out on at the appstore. It's called: OMFGTHISISSOSTUPID

didn't you know that one of the main reasons for teh kurtz to commit suicide was when he realised that his chorus, flanger and boss distortion pedal was a no-go on internet forums? :fp:
