NPD Univox SuperFuzz
Went to the local music store to peruse around, and check a couple things out today, and saw this.
The asking price was $150, so I thought it would be a sin to leave without it. It's one of my favorite vintage fuzz circuits, and this is my first vintage specimen. This things a beast!
Gut shot.
Sorry I dont have a proper camera.

Wow - amazing that no one at that local music had internet access and had no idea what they had!

It's a small mom and pop store, and I know the owner well. But apparently it sat for a couple of months in the shop, as well as being listed on reverb, so just my luck.

Incredible find and even more incredible deal!
I had one exactly like it on loan in the late 90s, but I never got the owner to sell it to me. Such a monstrous, wild fuzz that one!

Re: NPD Univox SuperFuzz
I used to have the same pedal, mine had a dying battery sound that I couldn't shake...probably had some component leaking. Ended up selling it for a fortune (even advertised as with issues) when I sold it a few years ago.

Re: NPD Univox SuperFuzz
So I got to play it pretty extensively the last couple of days, and it's only operating at like 1/4 the volume it should. I've tried different power sources and stuff, and nothing helped. Anyone have any idea what the problem may be? I'm thinking it may need to be recapped or something. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.
All in all, I'm still completely pleased with the purchase. At the price I got it, I kinda expected it may need some work.

If you don't know how to do the work yourself, I'd recommend sending it to Analogman and have them take a look at it. Their prices are decent and I feel like they would certainly treat that pedal with the respect it has earned.CorporateDisguise wrote:So I got to play it pretty extensively the last couple of days, and it's only operating at like 1/4 the volume it should. Don't know if it's just a problem with the Shin-Ei I had, but I remember it being a lot quieter than most fuzzes.Jaguar018 wrote:If you don't know how to do the work yourself, I'd recommend sending it to Analogman and have them take a look at it.
