Re: TC ELECTRONIC PLETHORA X5 - This thing rules too hard
I had a couple of Ditto X2’s, and they were nice. I just sucked at the foot switch timing.
If they offered that as another option as well, seems like it would appeal to a lot of people.
I get the not needing 5 slots, and wanting a smaller version for less money.

They are labeled left to right.preservation wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 6:16 amDo the effects really run from Left to Right on the Plethora ??
I think the old Korg plug-in effects pedalboards were left to right. The Ibanez UE-300 series went left to right.
Some of the very first effects had hard wired cables, like the Rangemaster and Maestro FZ-1. The earliest Tone Benders and Wah-Wah pedals went left to right. People argue that Jimmy Page went Wah into Fuzz, because the Wah is first in old 60s photos, but if you look at the cables, it’s the other way around.
It wasn’t until people (right handed guitar players) started stringing more than 2 pedals in series that they started tripping over cables and the switch over to right to left was made.

Most multi-effects units will list left to right, not uncommon at all.preservation wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 6:16 amDo the effects really run from Left to Right on the Plethora ??

That’s weird, although I can understand why from the post above.
It’s not too difficult to get used to, tho. I have a DB11 Pedal Palette, in regular mode, it goes right to left, but in programmable mode or to use it as a midi controller, the patches ascend left to right (which is how I always use it).
My T21 Mini -mingoose midi controller works the same way, but it really kind of makes sense that way.

Am a fan of the sub n up but also find tone prints ridiculous.
On board bonus chorus, modulation, distortion, pre/post eq, octave character you name it, yet only one preset for them... And unavailable with whatever phone I have. Would be satisfying to be able to edit the two stock modes, or yknow- just have a menu screen for all that.

Re: TC ELECTRONIC PLETHORA X5 - This thing rules too hard
This has been out for a while now, what are people's thoughts? I am considering getting it, as I do like the TC effects and this could replace my Line 6 M5, Keeley reverb and Digitech Ricochet.
I'm looking for a good reverse delay sound, nice phasers / modulation and whammy type effects.

Re: TC ELECTRONIC PLETHORA X5 - This thing rules too hard
I'm waiting for the used prices to come down on this thing, but I think I may get it at some point. I have some experience with the toneprints from using other TC gear. Overall, they are pretty flexible. My experience is that the "artist" generated toneprints sound a lot better than the stock/TC stuff - they are mostly made by musicians so they know what they're doing. I guess reverse delay I don't know specifically, but if you are willing to play around in their software, I'm sure you could create something close to what you're looking for. You may also want to visit their site and see what toneprints are already available that might cover it. I think they have sound clips for most of the toneprints. I guess the main "upgrade" over something like the M5 would probably be the access to these artist/fan created toneprint libraries. As we all know, most of the stock settings on multi-effects are pretty much crap. TC was smart enough to know that if they invite the artists to create them, they will have a better product than trying to get the engineers to design the patches. Anyways, I don't think you could go too wrong with this product. Worst-case you can't find existing toneprints that fit your sound and you have to create them yourself.

Re: TC ELECTRONIC PLETHORA X5 - This thing rules too hard
I did a fair amount of research and pulled the trigger on one of these, so I'm waiting for it to be delivered. I bought an expression pedal too, so I'll be keen to experiment with that. This can potentially replace 6 pedals on my gigging board!
I've had a few toneprint pedals in the past - they were sold to pay for vet bills - so I am happy with the concept and overall tone. It looks like you can do a fair amount with the routing options, which is intriguing. TC are also promising their Helix phaser and a looper in an upcoming firmware update.
