Also the moog guitar could somehow do this electronically with the pickups, like a fernandez sustainer in reverse.

it takes up a little less room than another guitar.
best of all, the guitar-jo is $8200 cheaper.

What using a combination of a Jaguar mute (some kind of mute) and a compressor set to very heavy compression?

I don't know :) I'm just thinking out loud that a banjo sound is kind of choked like a sitar (semi-muted), and more stacatto like a Jaguar, and maybe a compressor might make it more so. Worth a shot anywho...

just use a guitar with a floyd rose trem. usually floyds kill most sustain.
offset guitars resident bass player.

Only if the compressor would allow you to precisely set time constants attack and release! Slow attack, fast release :)
