SY-1
I’m usually a vintage only pedal person, but I must say that the BOSS SY-1 really caught my ears. Seems a great one!

Re: SY-1
I'm really surprised at how well-thought and well-executed this pedal looks. Not every sound on it is cool, but...there's 121 presets and a lot of them sound really good and usable. Great review as well, especially because he pointed what could have been better.

Most of what I make with my instruments couldn't be considered music, anyway. This thing looks easier to get usable sounds than the Enzo, which I've heard is a nightmare from UI standpoint.

Enzo owner here. The pedal creates amazing sounds and I'm glad I have it. But it is very hard to use. It's like an analog synth. At least as I understand it you have to dial in any sound you want unless you buy a foot switch. The nobs and stuff like that also have more than one function, further complicating the interface. That can make it hard to go back to something cool. There's a MIDI section that might solve some of this for recording applications, but that's above my pay grade.Singlebladepickup wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2019 11:00 amMost of what I make with my instruments couldn't be considered music, anyway. Yeah, the Meris pedals are a little hard to wrap your head around - for me, anyway. I think I've got a decent lock on the Polymoon, and a good idea of the Ottobit, Jr., but it's hard to keep the controls' alt functions straight in your head. I bought a 4 knob switch, but haven't been using it much lately (been using an expression pedal). One day I may try the midi functions on it as well, but not right now.Singlebladepickup wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2019 11:00 amMost of what I make with my instruments couldn't be considered music, anyway. My friend has an Enzo, and the controls are just crazy, they seem much crazier than the Polymoon. He also recently bought a few other similar pedals (Empress Zoia and getting a Poly Effects Digit), I'm excited to hear the results. The Zoia seems really cool, just that the menu face is a little small, but I like the buttons. The Digit looked really cool, too, I'm sure they're somewhat similar, and I'm sure all are really similarly expensive.

It's a boost booster, to boost your boost - it makes your tone much muchier.

Looks neat. Some dud sounds but it's bound to be fun to mess with.
This is an excellent rectangle

Re: SY-1
It's pretty interesting, and pretty nice actually, coming from Boss (and doesn't appear to be in the Waza line). It reminds me a little of the PS-3, I guess on steroids. I've definitely heard worse "synth" sounds from a pedal.
Tracking is normally the biggest issue, and they seem to have done a good job at that, so that seems smart. The sounds appear to be a little more cliche', but seem tweakable. Many seem redundant, as the guy in the video said. It also seems like the loop went a long way to help expand this pedal to work in conjunction with other pedals, instead of being standalone and having to work other things around it, or it into something else. Boss seems to be paying attention to what people are saying/griping about.
Seems like some usable sounds, but I'd probably still save up for an Enzo, Zoia or Digit. It may be more fair to put those up against the SY-300 for the price point, but I'd probably still prefer one of the others.

Re: SY-1
Looks like $200 which really seems like a good deal considering what it packs in there. I'm a Boss fanboy so there's that but I will definitely be getting one.
A note on usable sounds I found that with most syth pedals if you play with the mix you can get some really fun "under the note sounds" that can really make certain parts pop. I don't know, for me this is a no brainer after lusting after the Enzo but not wanting to pay the price for the confusion with the interface.
