Goddamn power supply problems!!

Post by zhivago » Fri Jul 18, 2008 2:22 pm

so I finaly got delivery of my Flatliner SIX this morning...

it rules, it's so small and compact, and is meant to power everything under the sun...6 isolated outputs with variable outputs on 9, 12, 18 and 24 Volts.

excellent.

the last pedal I'm waiting to come through the post is my Parachute Wah...should be here any day, and then I can put the board together.

so there I am thinking, "well, might as well check that all the pedals I have at the moment can be powered ok"

in anticipation of putting together my first board in years and years (about 4, actually) I already had bought spare special cables with different polarities etc.

my Pedaltrain 2 is awaiting....

I even got my George L's ready to be cut once the Parachute Wah gets here.

so I start.

Strobostomp 2...plug in....works

Klon....plug in....works

FoxRox Hot silicon....plug in....works

AD900... plug in.....works

which leaves us...the Reverbamate...aka my favourite reverb pedal in the world.

well, I'm such a dumbass...it's 12 Volts AC, so it can't be powered by this one!

(I found out the hard way...I stupidly plugged it in with 12V DC)  :-[

and to make matters worse, last week, the adapter I had for it died on me!!  >:(

so now I need a separate power supply for the Reverbamate.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

and I'm furious about it...I want everything neat and tidy...as few cables as possible...I had it all planned out, and then this happens.

this is total bullshit.

:'(

goddamit.

and the part I hate the most is that I will crack and leave the Reverbamate on the board, and get the extra adapter, because it's so musical and amazing.

it never ends, does it?  Image

No, it does. But then you're dead, and that's an entirely other matter.

No, it will end......As soon as you decide to sell most of the pedals and streamline again.  :P

Did you buy it new? It might be worth seeing if they'll swap it for a Pro, that has a 9 - 12V AC outlet.

Shame, the Six looks exceptionally cool, so small and neat!

yeah, I got it new...I'll keep the six though...the other ones are seriously huge.

the Six will actually just about fit under my Pedaltrain...all I have to do is put two extra feet in the back to lift things by a few cm.

one of the main things I wanted for this board was big-box effects, as I find them easier to step on and stuff...that leaves precious little real estate. :(

I wired everything up this morning (apart from the Reverbamate - I'll get an adapter this week)....it all works and plays together perfectly...I was worried about the Klon > Hot Silicon part of the chain, but they sound pretty amazing together

I can't wait for the Parachute Wah to get here!

it would be great to actually mod that with a toggle to be able to turn it into a volume pedal too.... :)
