ibanez DE7 crappy switch?
so i hear horror stories about the crappy switch on the ibanez DE7. while i do like the pedal, is there anyway to mod the poor switch to have a button switch like the EHX or MXR pedals?

Yeah, I got a DE7 and the switch broke the same day. I had a new switch in there the day after that though, and it's worked fine ever since.

I'm waiting for a DS7 (the distortion box) that a friend is giving me for free..I'm quite sure that there's enough room inside for putting a regoular swtch..the original one is a crappy 2mm piece of plastic..Leo wrote: it broke the same day! wow. this is what i use for the big long delay sounds, so it would suck if it were to crap out on me. oh... and thanks super fuzz, hoping for something good!

I've a LF7 (tonelock too) for more than a year now and it's my main OD/booster
I've never add problem with the switch...
but I've heard about this problem with the tonlock series

I'm resurrecting this thread after looking at your auction..so, don't you replace that switch with an original replacement? Can I have some pics of how and where you put the new one? I got a DS7 for free and it's not that bad without clipping diodes..stereordinary wrote: Yeah, I got a DE7 and the switch broke the same day. ;D I had a new switch in there the day after that though, and it's worked fine ever since. :P

Re: ibanez DE7 crappy switch?
Here's some better pictures of the switch I put in. I cut a big square hole right on the front of the pedal, and it looks like the enclosure was originally designed for one of the same style of momentary switches that you can find in Boss pedals. The new switch I picked up at RadioShack, you may have seen ones like it before. Actuating the pedal is so easy it's almost scary. You feel like you're waiving your foot over it.

something like this?
so you had to cut off the pcb where the original pcb is soldered on?

Re: ibanez DE7 crappy switch?
Yeah, that's the switch. There's actually a seperate pc board just for holding the original crappy switch, so I just de-soldered that. And like I mentioned in my For Sale ad, the second output jack had to come out to make room for the switch. That was on it's own pcb too.
