Dave, my mind is going. I can feel it.
Fender Custom Shop '66 Jaguar (CME spec) =>
Earthquaker Devices Data Corrupter => Earthquaker Devices Rainbow Machine => Death By Audio Echo Dream 2 => Death By Audio Reverberation Machine =>
Fender '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb
I put this board together this afternoon, so I thought I'd share. I've been playing around reverse engineering some "signature" ultra-spacey sounds I got several years ago on some demos through chaining together a bunch of free VST plugins I scrounged up at the time. The main thing I was going for was the grainy gain that comes from a touch of the fuzz and longer delay times on the Echo Dream 2 paired with the Delta knob on the Reverberation Machine that wraps everything in this nice lo-fi, modulated haze. Heavenly. Before that comes the Rainbow Machine, whose "standard" function has been a chorus-y type modulation, but touch the pitch knob ever so slightly to the right, and you generate this awesome tension feeling the delays want to blast off, but not quite being allowed to do so (until you engage the Magic, of course). And then there's the Data Corruptor, my newest pedal. This thing is downright awesome - the gated squarewave fuzz is actually smooth if you drive it enough, the suboctave is great for giving girth to single note riffs or glitches to everything else, and the oscillator immediately takes droning notes into alternate dimensions via a Nintendo 64 cartridge spaceship. I've barely scratched the surface of what it can do, but it's very inspirational if you're looking for a songwriting tool and/or something to fight you into playing in new and interesting ways.
All in all, quite a bit of fun.
