But the electric mistress is capable of chorus its even advertised as a chorus/flanger, chorus and flange are produced in such a similar way that they are the same effect with different delay time and feedback amounts, though the sonic result is vastly different.

This question is probably a matter of taste.

I don't have anything against any effect, but it's their inadequate, inappropriate, half-assed or tasteless use that grinds my gears. Certain pedals and whole categories of them can be notorious (like choruses and flangers here) because they're reminiscent of a style that's not to one's liking. Sometimes, the player is the one to blame, IMHO. I've been turned off from many a pedal because all the demos I could find were used in one of the aforementioned mannners. I have an 80s Ibanez Twin Cam chorus and a Joyo Classic Flanger and they can really add to the brew of a shoegazy sound I'm after. It's all about what you do with it.

On another note, you could tell when someone's plaing a Metal Zone Although Scott McCloud from Girls Against Boys uses one, and it ain't half bad, but I guess it's the noble exception.

No no no. I'm sure that every guitarist is really great with ultra sweet tones until they engage the particular pedal one doesn't like-- then they suddenly suck-- and when they turn the pedal off they are great again.

Chris Walla of Death Cab for Cutie used a 2x12 hot rod deville for the entire Transatlanticism tour and it sounded fantastic.

i hate analog pedals.

i only use analogue pedals.

It largely depends on how the player EQs them. I'd say about 9/10 times the person cranks the treble and bass and cuts the midrange, making for an awful shrill tone. I'm guessing Chris Walla knows better.
