Larry Mal wrote:Yeah, still no connection to Radiohead. I just can't get there. I've tried, and I never care or even care to know what their songs are about or if even their songs are about anything. This didn't change that. Periodically, I succumb to hype or someone persuades me to "really give it a shot" but nothing ever changes.
Same here. I have had Pablo Honey like a week after it was out. I saw them on The Bends tour (opening for someone else). I must have bought OK Computer three times (giving it away or losing it after each time). They have songs that I like but overall I could not get through no matter how hard I tried.

I wrote my thesis with The King of Limbs on repeat so that is probably my favorite record of theirs. The Basement videos are fun to watch, and the business approach is refreshing.

They must be the only band I like without actually liking their music.

I sometimes think that it's me, and listen to it. Maybe one day I'll connect, I don't know. I suppose like you, I kind of respect them more than I actually like them.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

I wasn't too fond of Radiohead as a teenager. I didn't see what the fuss was about.

I listened to a lot of shred guitar, prog metal and 80's rock until I was about 17. Then I kind of stopped liking that stuff (thankfully...) and my music tastes changed drastically. When I was 18 I revisited Radiohead and instantly loved it. Same thing with Jeff Buckley.

I thought they were okay until I saw them on the OK Computer tour, where they completely blew me away. I walked out of that venue with a new favorite band at the time.

Since then, the pattern has often continued. With the exception of In Rainbows, I have not been grabbed by a Radiohead album until seeing them play the stuff live. After that, I'm usually hooked on it.

They are truly an amazing live band.

Good song, but not even close to their best. I would say this fits somewhere in the middle of their production.

For context's sake, I will say I really like Radiohead. OK Computer and In Rainbows are two of my all time favorite albums.

First listen I was like "hmm... not sure about this".

Second listen I was like "this is quite good".

Third listen I was like "I love this".

:D

I had to wait 15 years to watch them live and when i did, they completely blew me away. The whole wooden floor of the arena was shaking when they launched into The National Anthem :-* :-*

I enjoyed that but am pretty sure the tone of the whole song & video will bring the Radiohead haters out in droves.
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

I gave it a chance because it's Radiohead.
With that being said, if this was their first album I wouldn't have lasted 30 seconds on it.

:w00t: :w00t: :w00t: i'm extremely excited. i also really really like this song. Burn The Witch is more straight forward. This one reminds me a little bit of In Rainbows mixed in with some Sigur Rós. really great song. cool video too.

Great description. That song is very good. I liked it immediately. Also made understand better what I don't like about Radiohead: Thom's singing. There is little of it on this track so maybe that's why I liked it more than the other one.

The video is also very good.

And the Paul Thomas Anderson connection makes a lot of sense given that the video for Burn The Witch (even if it was not him who directed it) is basically There Will Be Blood.

This. It's funny how much I disliked Creep when it came out, clumped them in with bands who now, in retrospect, were nothing like them. And then live, it all made sense. And since then, I think I hear them more fully, without association.
