I’ve come to appreciate the production of Tim, with its super slickness. To me, The songwriting really shines. It would be one for a box release, for sure.

I wish Tim had the same production as Let it Be. It’s still my favorite album of theirs, but the mix is just weird as hell. Even the remastered version of the album is kind of soft-hitting. Amazing that it’s still such a timeless listen, despite the production.

I’m looking forward to the box set. Don’t Tell A Soul was one I always glossed over until I read Trouble Boys, and the stories behind it made me interested. I now love several songs off of it (I’ll Be You and Anywhere’s Better Than Here are the real standouts to me), and Achin’ To Be is probably my overall favorite Mats song. The production of the whole record is infamously bad, but it’s grown on me; it’s kind of charming, I think.

Wasn't "Portland" one from the don't tell a soul sessions? That's a hell of a song, and the incident it's about is actually what hipped me to the Young Fresh Fellows 30 years ago.

They still play, and I still go see them! Last time I saw them was a couple years ago, they played for about 3 hours and I couldn't help but notice that the crowd was all the people I used to see at their shows 25 years ago, just greyer. It was kind of an awesome thing to realize.

I love hearing about bands still playing just to play, friends who just enjoy banging out some tunes together.
