Chris Shiflett Podcast...deep dive into guitar stuff

Say what you will about the guy, but his podcast called Shred With Shiffty is really good. Not about shredding actually, but about various guitarist guests talking about how they created a certain song or solo....they go really guitar nerd deep into pedal and amp settings, microphone placement, strings.....NO FOO TALK at all.

He just had the guitar player from Jawbreaker on...the difference between different types of Les Pauls....
Also, I never knew Shiflett did music other than Foo stuff, but it seems he does....

Seriously though, Shiftlett always seemed like a good dude. And his story about no-one having heard of him at the FF audition shouts of a humble man.

I like Chris...the Jawbreaker episode was truly epic as it was about time someone pressed Blake a bit more on the gear he used back then.

The Alex Lifeson episode is really good....I know RUSH has few fans in this part of the OSG world, but he seems like a real humble dude....the breakdown to the limelight solo was incredible...plus he goes into it a bit about PRS v. Gibson. The MOST interesting thing from the interview is that he let Geddy comp together his guitar solos....what trust in a band mate.

There was a Mike Campbell episode a few weeks ago that was also really good.

Even if I do dislike Foo Fighters, Shiflett is a dude and I liked his work in No Use For A Name. He was right to take the opportunity for his career (and those that know know that NUFAN ended abruptly a few years later with the death of Tony Sly).

I might look his podcast up, it sounds good

Shifty's the best. Easily my favorite Foo and just a passionate fan of guitar and guitar players, which I feel like anyone should be able to get behind. Been loving his show and all the guests so far.
