This year holds some concerts I‘m looking forward to:
- Samara Joy (the „new hope“ of Jazz singers)
- probably another time Gaye Su Akyol
- the Budos Band (they‘re finally coming to Europe! But we have to figure out which show is possible - as there is a wedding the same week)
- Khruangbin (finally in Austria, after we had to cancel our enhanced vacation to Porto in 2022 including Primavera Sounds - due to injuries and illness)
- Surfer Joe‘s Summer Festival (no line up revealed yet… I’m hoping for Langhorns!… but the Hotel is already booked!)

More to come! :)

I'm listening to Deap Vally and looking forward to seeing them in London on their farewell tour. So glad I'll finally catch them - last time they headlined anywhere in the UK I'm pretty sure I was too young to get into the venue.

Last year was terrible for gigs in Leipzig but this year's turned out great, so far...

The KVB
Still Corners
Alla La's
Ty Segall
The Hanging Stars (England)

I'm particularly excited about Ty Segall because it's one of only 2 dates in Germany and it's an acoustic gig in an outdoor venue called Panometer. We saw Kikagaku Moyo there & it's a great location...

Unfortunately the one I can't go to is The Oh Sees at The Shacklewell Arms, as part of their 20th birthday celebrations. That will be insane as the venue is tiny. Tickets go on sale tomorrow & will go fast....get 'em while they're hot!!

We just saw Alvvays last night in Columbus, Ohio. I was super-impressed with everything about this experience. If you don’t know their music, imagine MBV and the Smiths had a musical baby. Now imagine the lead singer of this band (they all have nice voices, btw) had one of the most beautiful voices you’ve heard singing some of the most funny, poignant lyrics you’ve heard in recent years and you have a sense of what you’re in for. Would recommend!

The church down the block from my house is hosting a free concert of Mozart symphonies today, so I’m checking that out.

Saw Guided by Voices on Friday and they were in fine form (a highlight being the debut of the new track Serene King). Yes that is a cooler on stage and yes, Robert did hand out beers to the audience. Some guy next to me passed out and apparently had done so at a previous show as well, according to the security guy. Never know what'll happen at a GBV show!
