Greetings from the desert......
Heard about this board from another board........Just posted in the Projects/Restorations forum before I noticed this newbie section so thought I'd say hi. Call me Archie. I build guitars, mainly from parts, though I've built a few lap steels from scratch. I play in an Elvis tribute band that's doing pretty well around Phoenix here; been playing for quite a while now.............I ain't saying I'm good, but I should be by now. Here's the project that "qualifies" me for this board........whatcha think?

Re: Greetings from the desert......
Thanks for asking--it's really pretty simple actually; it's got "lead" and "rhythm" circuits in the Jag tradition. Rhythm circuit is p/ups 1, 2, # 4 (from the top down,) lead is #s 3 & 5. Regular Strat 5-way switch for rhythm circuit, Tele 3-way for lead. Also got an "S-1" style mini-toggle for the rhythm and a series/parallel for lead. Volume & tone for the rhythm section, just a volume control for lead. The Les Paul-type toggle on the upper bout selects lead, rhythm, or both. This guitar's got a whopping 39 different pickup settings and it sounds pretty much like it looks--Snappy and snazzy! Thanks for your interest.

I think the inlays are supposed to represent a seashell; the neck is off a cheapo Strat copy from a company called "Surf City" that's based in Huntington Beach, California. The inlays are what enticed me to buy their Strat copy in the first place ($99 new on Ebay about 3-4 years ago) and it turned out to be a great neck (though I did have to finish the frets myself)--the rest of that Strat was absolute crap.

I am sure if you more those pickups closer, you'll have enough room for at least one additional pup...
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

Re: Greetings from the desert......
Actually, since all 5 pickups are identical humbuckers and I didn't incorporate any phase-switching into the circuit, there's no out-of phase sounds available.........I've had guitars with that feature and find that I just don't much care for the out-of-phase sounds--and the volume drop and the "tinniness" don't go well with what I play. Somebody else suggested a switching option where I could put ALL 5 pickups in series and I'm wondering what that would sound like.........well anyway, there's still plenty of space on that big white pickguard for more switches and I may just open 'er up at some time in the future and add a few more options.Mute wrote: I imagine it does some really odd phased out sounds!
