Hello from LA - Just bought a '59 TS JM in White Blonde! And NOW PICS!!!!!!!
Hello new internets pals! Newb here. I've been lurking around. Tryin to get info on new Jazzmasters. I used to own a 1966 sunburst with the B+B neck, but I sold it about ten years ago. I've never really lived that down, unfortunately. I got an old 70's silverface Twin Reverb in part trade plus $$ for it. I've still got the Twin and I give it a good kick everyday for being part of the worst deal of my life!! :)
Anyway, I've known for a while that it was beyond time to get another Jazzy. So, I went all out and got one of the '59 'Reissue' Thin Skin White Blonde numbers from Dave's! I am jazzed!
Anywho, just wanted to say hello. Seems like you've got a good community here. I'm kind of a big electronic instrument fan, so I'm around the Elektron Users Forum and VSE quite a bit. I've seen a couple of familiar names. Known around those parts as Thinktanx, but I decided I would go with Collides here, since it is the name of my latest musical project.
Peace!

Yeah, seeing the pics of yours pretty much sealed the deal for me. I thought about getting a JM66B from Japan (and I still might), and fixing it up with American parts, etc., but then I just thought the '59 was sooooo dope, and it would be ready to roll right out of the box! And it's so limited, I didn't wanna miss it.
It is on its way, so, I'll post pics when it arrives. Did you put an amber toggle tip on yours?

I intend to install the amber tip, but I haven't yet...
The tall frets take some getting used to. The high E keeps slipping off the fretboard. The string's not that close to the edge, it's just the way the frets are beveled that weird me out.

Hmm... interesting. I've mainly been playing a Jimmy Page Les Paul for a number of years, so, my experiences may be different. We shall see.RumorsOFsurF wrote: I intend to install the amber tip, but I haven't yet...

I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm used to sharper radius fretboards and vintage Fender style frets, so the tall skinnies are a change.COLLIDES wrote:Hmm... interesting. Without question!!
The lead singer to the background female singer in the vocal booth:
"It sounded better when you were high"
'Do I need to be high?"
"Yes, you need to be an octave over me"
"Oh, high notes, ok"
Me: "I wish I was high."
From a jingle session- two guys from the client are there who are the walking definitions of the term "empty suit". I walked past them in the hall and the bit of conversation I overheard was "Oh, he's an accountant? Really? I thought he was a musician, I've been calling him 'man' "
