Possible project
Wazzup fellow OSG members!
So I have this strat maple neck laying around for a while. Recently I started to think about getting a body for it, but since I already have two strats, I couldn't possibly build another one. Also, lately I've been GASing a lot about this Starcaster reissue, but I have no idea of how much it's gonna cost (hell, it could be a custom shop thing, just like the bass VI a couple of years ago) and money is going to be an issue in the next couple of months.
And then it hit me today: why not build a semi-hollow Jazzblaster body? So I got in here, toyed with some things in paintbrush and I got this:
So, what do you guys think? Is it so horrifying?
Does anyone in this forum built something like this? Maybe if I saw the real thing it would help put things in perspective. I mean, if the starcaster turns out to cost like U$700, maybe I could afford it (and then I would get a tele body in the future or something, who knows...)

Re: Possible project
It looks a whole lot like one of the Fender Pawnshop guitars, the offset special I believe, not saying thats a bad thing but maybe look into it?

In love with the JM with WRHB's.. using flat xl light chroms neck is lush and warm. Bridge drives quiet nicely... I used the JM-WR from novak for a pro friends new build. WRHB in a JM package another thought.

Re: Possible project
If I decide to go ahead with this, I think I would probably buy the WRHB reissue set. From what I heard on demos (most of them of Tele Deluxes) it actually sounds pretty good. the Novaks, Lollars and all these others that claim to be true to vintage specs are too expensive.
About the offset special I thought about it but it has a strat shape and it looks kinda funny, dunno.
And what model is that Ibanez? Never seen one like it...

Re: Possible project
So, I took some time today to search for the parts and check how much all of this would cost me (you know, buying pickups, body, paint, tremolo, etc). Well, apparently it's going to cost me at least U$600, 'cause in Brazil import taxes are as high as Amy Winehouse. Still considering it, but right now getting a Starcaster reissue seems much more realistic in the near future...

Re: Possible project
do this one it looks less like an offset special and more like a starcaster/jm hybrid. THE STARMASTERmr.sunshine wrote:Wazzup fellow OSG members!

Re: Possible project
So, I decided to do it. Already placed an order on the body and it should be here in a week or two. I'm placing an order on a reissue WRHB set too, since I'll be using 1M pots I don't think it would be too dark/muddy. As soon as get the parts I'll move this thread to the mods/projects section.
