bastard
I'm glad there are a lot of guitar players pursuing technique as diligently as they possibly can, it leaves this whole other area open to people like me.

You realize Yannis, some people on this forum will think that all these Hotties are part of you massive vintage collection!
Wait a minute. Maybe they are!!
BTW. Nice pedal.

hehe...yeah, a few people have been getting confused
of course, none of it is mine...I've collected the pics over the years and thought I'd share them with everyone.
actually, the odd thing is that even though I find all this gear insanely cool, I have no real ambition to own any of it...my GAS list is...well...
I think by now everyone knows it's just a 50s Les Paul with P90s!
of course, I also wouldn't mind a pre-war 000 Martin, a 50s Gretsch Hollowbody and a 50s Tweed Bassman...

You see? The more you think about it the longer the list gets!!zhivago wrote: .....I think by now everyone knows it's just a 50s Les Paul with P90s!

heheheh!!
very, very true!!
it's kinda weird though that these are objects that have GAS'd me up for years...it's a pretty static GAS list (with the odd appearance of an SG Jr for when I'll be older and need a lighter electric guitar)
I mean, thing is the added three items really are unobtainable...pre-war Martin would be what? $15k-$25k
50s Gretsch White Falcon....$18k-$25k
Tweed Bassman...well, I suppose I could get a clone made!
so yeah, I think what will actually happen is this:
50s Goldtop with issues (headstock break or refin or both! )...
plus eventually a 50s Gretsch like a Duo-Jet or something (I just love the Gretsch sound)
and a Tweed Bassman from Ceriatone
yeah, that'll do...
and funniest thing?
I'd still probably play the J50 for 90% of the time!

hahaha...it's really diabolical, isn't it?
thing is, I've gotten really into Neil's sound in the past few years...when I was younger I had no idea what he played...but yeah, it's great sounding vintage gear man...it's a disease!

Believe me, I'm totally with you on the "Neil" sound.
I've paid close attention to your D.I.Y amp & once you've nailled the sound I'm more than likely gonna copy it.
I can't think of a better sound to emulate.

Yannis, have you checked out the Durham Electronics Crazy Horse? It really gets that Neil Young sound, no matter what guitar is going into it. It nails the Neil Young sound but also does so much more. It's a pedal I'm definitely going to get in the near future. Big Honky loves his!

It is made to get his sound, mostly. The whole Neil Young and Crazy Horse thing is where they get the name from. But it does a whole lot more than just that. It's very versatile. It's all analog, so it's not like some guy did some computer work and made a chip to emulate his sound, it's a blendable fuzz/overdrive circuit with a knob to change the voltage so you get that amp sag sound. It's really cool!skip wrote: is that what the crazy horse is designed for? i love neil and live for his sound
