Re: Modular Synth Users!
you don't actually need to fake that stuff, the real world is pretty bad, the owner of IBM said in 1958: "I think there is a world market for about five computers" i think i have 5 computers in my bathroom!
i still remember my trip to Epcot Center in the 80s as a kid. they told us we would be living in submarine homes, riding dolphins to school and having our personal robots do our homework! all in the futuristic world of 1999! and i wonder why i'm so depressed all the time, its because i'm still waiting for my dolphin..

I saw a pic from the Radiohead recording studio, Jonny Greenwood has one of those HUGE Analogue Systems racks, but all I've ever heard him use modular stuff on is the drum track for Idioteque.dain wrote: mentally ill?
i have a pet equation for those wall sized synths. i call it the paypal theory. the larger your synth gets, the less music you actually make with it and the more time you spend on ebay buying modules for it. i swear once your modular gets past a certain size all you do is make youtube videos showing it off!
you'll probably notice that the guys who actually MAKE music often have smallish systems with holes in it because they're always changing things around. i feel as soon as an instrument gets out of immediate reach i stop using it.
but then you have the buchla problem where everything is there in a small form factor but as soon as you get a good patch going you can't see the knobs anymore. i've started dedicating a laptop for a lot of the meat and potatoes, and i bet volta is going to be a big plus in this regard.
There is no problem so bad that you can't make it worse.

Re: Modular Synth Users!
nice little semi modular. may be a good and cheap start to build a modular around:BlixaFan wrote: not quite modular, but should be cool http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/2009/03 ... nergy.html
get it and see if you use the patching capabilities. if not, it's a nice mono synth with midi and usb, but if you do, dont hesitate buying more modules.
and more.
.
..
...and even more
