Re: Help: My bass players tone SUCKS!
reading the thread from start to finish, it sounds like your bass player thinks he's playing guitar. There are a lot of recommendations for new gear up thread, a lot of 'em sound ( sorry) like great advice. For what it's worth I'm betting that even with the best bass rig in the world this guy is still going to sound the same. I'm thinking he wants it to sound that way. unless he has said that he wants to get a better bass tone, you're probably out of luck getting him to play bass when he wants to be playing guitar.

New band?planningtojazz wrote:i knoww.. and i met a guy whos really really good and really wants to join our band. I just cant toss the guy we have now. Hes been writing songs with us and my drummer seems to love it, but a lot of the stuff we write has like really sour notes from him singing, i want to be constructive but i definitely feel like hes taking it personally. :/budda12ax7 wrote:New bass player + 10

It sounds really uptight but if a drummer can't keep time on high energy songs because his lungs are fucked, it jeopardises the music.planningtojazz wrote:oh dude im already on it. I love them, but lifestyles are different. Even down to small stuff like not smoking cigarettes and not eating garbage or doing drugs should be aligned. How can i trust someone to want to have a high energy for practice if they can't get their health together.countertext wrote: Don't look back.

Also in the whole experience I'm learning a lot about expectations from people in general. Instead of expecting them to possess the qualities I want in bandmates I'm looking in the mirror and building those qualities in myself first. I believe the people who enter your life serve as accurate mirrors to who you are or where you're headed.

Sounds like it's time to find a new situation.
