Belated NBD!!! Early 70's Musicmaster Bass
i have had it for about a week. my first legit vintage fender and one of my all time dream guitars. two birds with one stone. it is in pretty good shape and plays amazingly.
the one thing i was a bit confused about is the sound. i know they put the pickup from the guitar version in it and i have heard that causes them to sound thin or weird but this thing sounds fat as hell. original pickup still in tact.
i know its kind of a bummer but the only non-original part is the neck plate. which means no serial number but after some research i found out its an early 70's. i'll know for sure when i take it apart when i get new strings.
anyways... i am super happy with it.

Nice one. These are nice, I have a black one, albeit later than yours, but they're light and manageable.

I have one like yours too. They're cool basses, for sure. Mine came with heavy flatwounds, which I didn't care much for. Found an old set of light roundwounds in a drawer, boiled them, put them on, and I love the bass. I have no desire to change the pickup or anything like that anymore either. I did remove the dark blue cap on the tone knob, though.

Wait, is there an F on the plate and just the serial number missing? If so, it could be original then (I think )niksureal wrote:

This one also has no serial on the neck plate:

the neck plate definitely looks old but its just a blank plate. i didnt come up with any results for just blank plate being original. im pretty certain it isnt original.PJazzmaster wrote:Wait, is there an F on the plate and just the serial number missing? If so, it could be original then (I think )

They propably swapped the neck plate and sold it seperatly.
