Fixer Upper Jaguar - 1965 Value

Post by FenderBob » Wed Mar 22, 2017 6:55 pm

So I guy on Craigslist is selling this (ad has expired but he still has it). he was asking $1200 but is willing to take less. How much do we think it's worth? Anyone looking for project? The orig color was olympic white. He accidentally threw a bag of parts in the garbage...he forgot what they were. :fp: no surprise he is not a guitar player. He just inherited this from his Father-in-law.

That makes me so sad.... needs a Danocaster finish and not to be naked and guardless.

I'd buy that for $1k all day long, but I am in the UK, where things are a bit more expensive :)

$1K easy, but getting that guitar playable will be a few hundred in parts, and then a pro-refin? So like $600-$700 on top of whatever you pay?

I guess for the people that have spare parts that's not a big deal, but I would not try and flip that for a profit.

PS: I wish I could get it! :-*

If I got it, I wouldn't restore myself - don't have the time, skill, or money. A few folks wrote me about being a middleman, so I may do that as it seems like an interesting project for a restoration. I will see what I can do to obtain the guitar. The seller lives about 130 miles away.

That's extremely generous of you to offer to your fellow OSG members. I just picked up virtually all of the parts included with this listing and it cost me more than $1k, though they were pre-CBS (1963-1964). If this one is gotten for less than $1k, someone will have a great deal on a starting point for a restoration.

...now that those parts are gone, there's space for another project!

For 1k that'd be easy... Send in to MJT or Danocaster and grab a spitfire mint guard... Staytrem bits... $1600-1700 for a refin? Hell yeah! That's about what I have into my refin JM and it is stellar.

I think this would be a great candidate for a custom color. At that price, you have plenty a room to put a new paint job on it. Just make sure all the parts are working.
