Lovely Jazzmaster and great sounds. I think the buzzstop is a fantastic alternative. Much less of an investment than the coveted Mastery or a Staytrem and clearly it works just as well or better.

Squier 40th anniversary. Love the stock pickups but the 1meg pots are way too brightsal paradise wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 1:45 amWhat model/pickups have you got?andare wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 1:10 amI for one am not convinced. I've had a JM for a few weeks and can't seem to make it work with my music. Too bright, too much midrange coming from a Strat. I love the clean tones but I don't like it with fuzz, it's like there's always some clean treble sitting on top of the fuzz. I think I need smaller pots or flatwound strings.

Try 250K or 500K. Or just dial your amp darker and turn the volume on the guitar down to 8 or 9. It’ll make a big difference.andare wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 7:26 amSquier 40th anniversary. Smaller pots are the only option.BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 3:36 pmTry 250K or 500K. Or just dial your amp darker and turn the volume on the guitar down to 8 or 9. It’ll make a big difference.
Here's why:
My amp uses a Fender tone stack and it's already a 0 treble 10 mids 3 bass. Can't get any darker than this. And I can't turn down the volume on the guitar permanently because I also use fuzz pedals that respond to the guitar's output. Volume consistency is important in my rig.
Thanks for your help!

I see. Personally, I’d go with 500k to start. 250k might be too dark. I’ve not gone that low myself, so I’m not sure. Somebody who knows might chime in.andare wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 2:28 amSmaller pots are the only option.BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 3:36 pmTry 250K or 500K. I agree, 500k seems the way to go for the tone pot at least and maybe for the volume as well. I still want my JM to be bright after all.BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 9:36 amI see. Here's the second part, looking under the guard & authenticating parts.
It doesn't look all the bad really. Minor routing & shielding paint that can probably be removed carefully.
I reckon he paid more than he should have. I could be wrong but he sounds a bit miffed when he's talking about Reverb.
Also, I really thought he was gonna mention OSG for a second but, instead, he mentioned some two-bit GuitarHQ site. Meh
It's a shame he didn't mention if he's holding onto it or not. He's a huge fan of the neck though so maybe it'll be a keeper.

You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

6k is kinda wild for a routed example, especially in sunburst, but I guess you're right when there's people asking over 10k in places.
I saw that video yesterday (and commented about leaving the buzzstop off, obviously...gotta do my due diligence). He definitely seemed pissed off. If it wasn't declared then he would have a case against the seller if it was a trader/shop but he said it was a private individual so he's likely not got any comeback from it. Not the worst outcome, and only a minor issue that thankfully can't be seen, but that sort of thing could easily tarnish the NGD sheen for some people.
I do particularly enjoy watching the previously dismissive 'blues dad' crowd suddenly fawning over our 'hipster/weirdo/etc' guitars. It's weird how such a large section of the community can suddenly flip things on their head if the right people promote things.

I don’t really understand how if you like strats, you wouldn’t like at least 70% of the JM sound.
But I guess it’s more myths about the floating bridge than the sounds?
