That Gibson reminded me of Pat's Telecaster - all hollow on the inside!

I sure as hell wouldn't pay that money for it, but someone skilled should be able to clean up that route, and with a bit of cnc cunning, machine an exact plug to restore it. Someone very skilled could probably do it by hand. Will? How's your budget this month?
Especially with an opaque finish... look, you all know what I'm about.

Very simple to remedy, but seeing this item on eBay made me giggle:

First entry for a scratchplate? Not even vintage. The mind boggles. Unless you’re in a wedding band, I guess. In that case, an overly complex nonsense would begin to make sense …

I'll own up to making abominations like that in my day. I once build a parts Strat with triple humbuckers and a Floyd Rose. Each of the pickups was wired to toggles for split, series/parallel and out of phase. My wife called it the "most extra" guitar I've ever had.sal paradise wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 4:18 amFirst entry for a scratchplate? Not even vintage. The mind boggles. To paraphrase Ian Malcolm, I built it more because I could, not because I should.

Honestly, I actually don't see a problem with that pickguard. It's versatile. The P-Rails have three distinct sounds by design (full humbucker, P90 coil, rail coil) without even considering parallel and internal phasing. Not sure what the third switch is for since the Vintage Rails isn't splitableldp54002 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 7:23 amI'll own up to making abominations like that in my day. Re: "Why did you do it? Why did you do this thing to me?"
Probably a master-switch that allows you to add the neck or bridge pickup to any sound already blended by the 5-way switch. So it allows you to do all 3 pickups together, or neck+bridge together which you normally can't do on a Strat.
