Re: 59 jazzmaster
This really does point to Danocaster. His work is by far the best I've seen anywhere & he knows exactly how to do a late 50s 3-tone sunburst. Not only that but he's the guy likely to do the best relic job you can get, be it light or heavy. I'd go with very light myself, just enough so it doesn't look brand new & matches the vibe of the neck.
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

So I disappeared for a bit... Got distracted with life... Then sold a couple guitars and got the fever for something with humbuckers and bought a MIM 72 Thinline locally... Really liked it so I sold it and bought a MIJ FSR model. White with a rosewood fretboard
Back to the jazzmaster spoke with Dan (Danocaster) and am going to disassemble the guitar and ship it to him.
Thanks!

Re: 59 jazzmaster
I just discovered this thread. This is the kind of stuff I have day dreams about, didn’t think it ever happened to people!
Have you decided what kind of finish you want yet then?
Unfortunately I don’t have any tips regarding the logo.

Staying with the original burst. It looks great and solves the "that color wasn't made that year" issue even though I love a lot of custom colors, plus I have a aqua marine strat and a white tele, but no burst electrics.Don_Karnage wrote: ↑Sun Jun 24, 2018 5:21 amI just discovered this thread. Great choice, I think. I love both charcoal frost and sherwood green but the grain on that guitar looks really nice, plus sunburst just looks classic. Can’t go wrong!

Definitely a good call on the Sunburst. In future years sunburst will be the finish with rarity value, whereas 30 years ago it would have been the converse. Look forward to seeing more.

Going to upload the pics from Danocaster and then pics I took this evening. Light was super directional and major shadows.. maybe not the best for photographing a burst... But it's still pretty!
