i bought this about a month ago for way less than half the original asking price!!!!

the sellers were a lovely couple who had no idea about guitars hence the ad being centred around the mans late father who he obviously idolised as he had lots of pics of him ( one was from the late 60's with him with this guitar) and they seemed really impressed with my playing and i stayed at their house for a good hour and honestly were the sweetest people i have met. They drove me down to their local wetherspoons after ild been to theirs and it was a great day,

(I wondered why non guitar people posted on reverb but they explained how when they realised what they had was special they took it to their local PMT and thats where they got the £4.5k original starting price from as a young lad (they sent a vid of him wirh it before i bought my train ticket and be looked about 18/19?) looked at it and said thats what its worth and he played it for them and they emailed me that vid, he told them to sign up for reverb as it has less fee’s than ebay and he didnt have the ability to buy a guitar worth that much on behalf of PMT)

( i am 21 and the seller realised i wasn't buying this to make money on etc as i rang and explained how its my dream guitar ( massive dino jr fan) and thus i bought it to keep for life)

paint isn't as bright its more yellowed and has chips in real life and has checking and back lights under this blue light thing a guy my dad knows who is into vintage gear has, he has it checked over and i got told the paint is definitely nitro

,**** also the vintage guitars the seller had pics of their dad playing in the ad were not this one and were in fact the other ships bands members, as i confirmed by looking through them, one was even a jag, their dad also had a 90's japanese strat and theres a pic of him with that too***

i am not too bothered regarding a refin mind as i paid less than the price avri jazzmaster's go for, (this neck is lovely, and definitely all original with its stamp etc as is everything else on the guitar and inside i even checked the pot dates online) , i got a vintage switch tip for £35 and im super happy with my new slabboard 62 jazzmaster, refin or not (its never gonna be for sale and even if i needed the money ild rather sell anything i own than this).

also this is going to played hard in a punk band so i expect it to get a hell of a lot more wear, also i cant work out how to put pics on here otherwise i would send u loads along with the 71 beat up competition mustang bass it is getting used alongside at the moment

this was a dream for me and i never ever thought i would see a pre cbs jazzmaster for that price ever in my lifetime, i thought getting my all original 71 compstang bass for £700 the other month was my best ever deal,

also i lowkey would love to be told its a refin as if that was the case ild shoot a thin coat of black lacquer over this so it could wear through like nels cline or oliver ackermans jag

cheers Dan

also the trem bar is super worn as the owner had shaped it funny (as one of the old pics of him back in the day with it shows) and i think he must have bent it back making the chrome flake off

Good on you, at that discount it looks like a fantastic pick-up. Post some close-ups when you have a moment, especially comparing the white under the scratchplate with the main hue. But in any case it's a lovely instrument. Have fun with it.

Im super happy with the deal i got on this but again i doubt i will ever sell it so that’s irrelevant, and its still a lot of money for me as after rent and tax etc i only have like £80 free money to live off a week, i will take the guitar apart on monday as i have a day off so you guys can see everything inside it etc, had to sell my squier supersonic to pay my parents back for this (i got £850 for the supersonic from a guy from bradford on Facebook)

All the best, Dan

Wow, that's a nice Jazzmaster! Noticed it in the AV'65 thread too.
You got very very lucky, indeed!
