It's just a very clean and thin sound. Fender Amp, out of phase switching and maybe the volume rolled off a bit. You could possibly do it with a bridge pickup only. The trick here is the playing technique with the wide and very characteristic pitch bends and the scale he uses. Sitars have this typical buzz from the Jawari bridge but there's nothing of this in the sound in the video.

Zork & Kinx are both spot-on. For the majority of that clip, Eric appears to have all three pickups and both phase switches on. That configuration on my clone Marauder produces a thin tone that isn’t dissimilar. However, Eric’s technique, the amp and any effects used play a role in the sound we are hearing.

And the amp seems to be recorded with a room mic, on top of the amp's verb, adding to that ethereal quality of the out-of-phase tone and Eastern-sounding riff.

I concur. Turning on all three pickups and engaging both phase switches will produce that exact, super thin sound. My Marauder does the exact same thing - I thought it was a wiring issue at first, but alas no.

Yeah honestly don’t know why I said sitar cuz it sounds nothing like one it was just a vaguely eastern thin sound so that’s what came to mind.

The strat that was made for Hendrix is the '69 Rosewood model featured at the end of the video. It's the headliner in most viewers' opinions so it looks like they titled the video in a "save the best for last" manner.

It just happens to open with the Marauder, which is infinitely more exciting to OSG folks, so I don't blame you for tuning out after they move into Tele and Strat Land for the majority of the vid.

No I mean, there are a bunch of comments referencing two stratocasters or whatever but I didn’t see anyone mention the totally unique/most likely never before seen by a lot of them guitar in the beginning.

It's been a while since all the Marauder talk & forum builds but loads of old pictures got thrown into the mix.

Those pickups are actually split coils, perhaps humbuckers, of a sort. Three poles serve EAD while the other three serve GBE. This is actually a really great idea as most Marauders tend to be heavy on the 60-cycle hum.

These guitars really are the cats pajamas and it is a crime that they never went into production. Never cared about the v1 all that much but the V2 would have been an amazing instrument.

Mine is close to being finished. I put in a single series/parallel switch (bridge & neck pickups) as phase switches are of no use to me at all.
