Thanks for all the comments guys :)

Picking up on the money side of things, it’s mad when you break it down. All that money for a lump of wood with another piece screwed onto it and some wire pulled tightly across!

But we know better than thinking that way!

absolutely! at this point it's a legit collectible artefact...I'm a record collector and thinking of a particularly rare and expensive record as a 'small piece of plastic with a hole in it' would not do ;D

the close up on the volume and tone knob really make me realize you can not replicate the original thing.

Dusting off this thread as for the first time ever I've weighed my guitars and have gone down a rabbit hole!

This is coming in at 7lbs 12oz - that's particularly light isn't it?

It's on the lower end for sure. My 72 is that weight and my old MIJ is close to that (I've never actually weighed it but it feels super light). Anything under 8½lbs is a good thing.

My '59 is about 7lbs 9 oz, so it sounds like yours is pretty close. Yours is a beaut - congratulations!

my mid-late '59 (11 hole first version tort) seems on the heavy side.
haven't weighed it, but it feels heavier than my AV65 JM which
clocked in at less than 8 pounds when new.

I tried a few around 20 years ago in Denmark St back when there was a Vintage and Rare shop which seemed to be ran by a pretty decent guy - not sure when it closed/moved.

The ones I tried were very light…. Noticeably so. Kicking myself now of course that I walked away from a gold/sunburst 59 because I thought £2450 was too much! I could just about scrape the money together but it would have caused some anxiety. Loved the slim neck profile.
