So, dipping my toe in the vintage guitar market by bagging a 65 Jazzmaster in a Black Friday deal. My dream guitar and absolutely delighted with it. Got it properly set up (was buzzing all over the place when I got it) and added a Mastery bridge - now playing and sounding great.

Congrats! I had a ‘64 in the ‘90s that looked just like this one, except with Strat knobs. It was the best vintage guitar I ever owned and I miss it to this day.

Was there something wrong with the original bridge? The only issue I ever had with vintage offset bridges was screws occasionally being frozen (and that was only on one example).

The bridge seemed to be buzzing all over so I just bit the bullet and got a Mastery - already have one on my JM Jag so knew what to expect.

Wow. yes that is just superb. I have 2 Staytrem systems but haven't actually fitted them as the original bridges work fine. You do need a good neck angle though and all these guitars were fitted with neck heel shims at the factory.
It's a '65 but pre-CBS as it has no binding and dots. I take it there is an L plate on the back and not an 'F' plate?

Wonderful guitar and I wish you all the best with it!

Yep, L plate on back and pickups dated 1965.

My first vintage Fender purchase was a 1966 Jazzmaster four years ago. It's been a very expensive 4 years since then ;D . Stay strong, my friend.

Looks awesome! What are those inlays made of? It looks too shiny for clay but not varied enough for pearloid. Awesome guitar tho!
