1962 LPB Jazzmaster
Here’s a killer and rare JM I just picked up, an early 1962 in LPB with non-matching headstock and mint green guard
This transitional aesthetic variation only exists for a few months in very late 1961 and early 1962 when Fender was making the switch from both tort guards and non-matching headstocks on custom color models (aside from blonde/oly white).
Though LPB isn’t a rare finish in general to find on matching headstock JMs, especially in 1963 and beyond, it’s rare to find on early examples w/o a matching headstock and with a green guard!
Pots date to 1961 and pencil dates are January 1962.

Oh man, I am extremely jealous! That is a fantastic example. I recognise it too. I saw it on Instagram earlier - bought from Retrofret.
It really is one of the nicest guitars I've ever seen to be honest.
I hope you enjoy it a lot!

Absolutely stunning. Love the green guard on this. Early '62 with non matching headstock...definitely not your average JM.

Beautiful. Even though it's kind of odd to see LPB without a matching headstock

Amazing!! Such a fantastic looking colour combo.
I'm a HUGE fan of non-matching headstocks too.
