Miller Bass (Ric Bass Copy)
My Local guitar shop has a nice looking Ric Bass copy by a company called Miller. Does anyone have any info on them? It was marked as a Japanese company & was made sometime in the 70's. It played nicely but wanted more info than they had. I would love to have a Pic style bass & this fit my budget.

I have no info for you - but you should try the Rickenfakers Facebook group. I'm sure they'll be glad to help you out.
And I want pics!

Thanks. The last post on that facebook groups looks a few years old. I will see what I can find out.

If it's a bolt neck then beware. My brother got a Hondo rick (a la Peter Hook) and the bolted neck was very badly designed and the neck had essentially cracked due to being so thin at the crucial joining point.
I know a lot of these Asian instruments were made in the same places so make sure yours isn't like to fall victim to the same problem.

It's a set neck & the headstock is a little shorter than an actual Ric bass. Apparently the company is out of North Carolina but I still can't find out any info as far as how much it would be worth. It plays great but I don't want to overpay for something when I have no idea how much it is worth. I know the argument, it's worth as much as you think it is & would pay for it, but you understand my meaning.

It's hot looking. If it's cheap buy it. I have a bolt on Ibanez copy from the 70s and love it!

Looks like one of the better copies, to say the least. Be absolutely sure you want to keep it forever before buying it though, as Rickenbacker copies are even more of a pain in the ass to sell than a real Rickenbacker.

That looks pretty sweet! If it’s a usa one-off by Miller in NC it could be very nice quality. Under a grand hopefully.
