The breakup on these pickups is really classic and tasteful. Bell-like would describe the cleans. Great surf guitar. Putting 52-11s on it made it happy.

The '64-'65s really do have something special in my experience. They've got the same quality feel as other pre/transition CBS Fenders and the same vibe to their tone.supersonicjazzmaster wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2019 11:41 amAre there experiences with other years? Often for sale are the 1969´s?
Are those 1965´s especially worth to get because of their sound? ...I think so...
Mustangs from 1966 are plenty - I'm fairly sure this was the peak production year. I have one from mid 66 that looks very similar to the OP's and plays and sounds fantastic. Some of my best stuff in the last years was inspired by/recorded with it (which is not much to say only that it's a great guitar). I also have 65 mustang neck on my Jaguar and it's noticeable how chunky it is. Considerably fatter and wider at the nut than the 66. I haven't played a whole 65 but I can see this kind of neck being a pretty appealing factor.supersonicjazzmaster wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2019 11:41 amAre there experiences with other years? side note: do you still have your Staytrem Mustang Trem Arm? It seems that these are out of production now I am so glad that I got one years ago.Axolotl wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 12:23 amMustangs from 1966 are plenty - I'm fairly sure this was the peak production year.
