String Tree - Spacers?

Post by Danley » Tue Jul 02, 2019 9:53 pm

Around when did spacers under the string tree come into play on Mustangs etc. ? I have a '66 neck where no spacer was used, and a later ~'78 Bronco neck with a thick nylon spacer; but seems like the spacer is almost wholly unnecessary, thanks to the shallow pitch of the neck (string angle is barely affected.)

Should my '78 not have a spacer? Should my '66 have one?
King Buzzo: I love when people come up to me and say “Your guitar sound was better on Stoner Witch, when you used a Les Paul. “...I used a Fender Mustang reissue on that, dumbass!
