1965 Olympic White Jazzmaster in "Fender: The Golden Era"

Hey guys! Interesting piece I just nabbed last week. It was advertised as a factory refinished olympic white Jazzmaster with 58-59 electronics. Definitely Original electronics from that year. It has the appropriate markings for a factory refinish between the pickups, and the "paint stick" area on the neck pocket with a little "yellow" in the bare spot, etc.

Funny thing is, after I buy it I find out that its actually in Martin Kelly and Terry Foster's Fender book! See the side by side photo here:

The one on the left is the book...I think its page 127 or 137 if I remember, correctly.

As was not uncommon, they reused the original shielding and electronics (tremolo, I think, too), but replaced the body and the neck. Funny how guitars got sent to Fender for just a factory refinish and came back with new bodies and necks!

Has a later 59 Knuckle buster brown case. Might have been the one the guitar originally left the dealer with...tweeds only lasted for awhile and these brown "knuckle busters" are seen from 59 into very early 60.

That aged white is so spectacular.

Yes, it does have a nice charm to it! I also really like the unfaded white, but it is hard to find. Here a shot of my 62 with no clear coat! Rare green guard. I will put up some comparison shots when it arrives

Really nice when they left the clear coat off and the guitar was well looked after.

Yes, and I am sure there was some OCD worker at Fender who would be upset if someone forgot the clear coat back in the day :).

That looks fantástic. Very cool to have a guitar mentioned in that book
