No expert, just throwing this all out there:

I've seen a lot of Fiesta Red and they seem to rarely go this color, but that's a possibility and you never say never with Fender.

The original finish under the trem, etc, still looks a little weird for a less exposed color.

The top right screw hole for the neck is MASSIVE, that seems weird to me but doesn't denote if it is or isn't a refin.

The wear patterns seem pretty excessive, same with the very consistent wear on the neck ALL the way up? Seems consistent and that's suspicious to me.

Doesn't look like any finish checking at all, but there could be - however that would strike me as slightly unusual.

Saw this one and had the same feeling as you guys. Something is fishy and the price is way too high. But at least he is consistent with the over pricing in his shop. The other fishy thing is the collection. "Come from my personal collection"... Not a bad collection counting in at 738 listings where 354 are premium priced collectors items, mostly. In Italy!
I don't believe it and will stay away...

Fiesta Red is unusual, it's far less light-fugitive than most red paints, so you often don't see tan lines, but I'd expect to see checking outside the scratchplate and less checking underneath.

The neck pocket on that guitar is a disaster. The 'unpainted' bit looks previously stained or stripped - but most importantly, what in the hell has happened to the top right hole?

This store has been around a good while, they (unusually) have a crazy inventory of left handed vintage guitars. Most are well over priced, but still.
A few too many than what could be expected?
For sure, we're not talking about the odd dusty Squier sat in the corner, they have lots of vintage lefties :?

back neck carve
suspicious wear
Wear on neck is not typical of vintage wear. It's been sanded off and dirtied up.
Spot on!
That's terrible-looking, amateur-hour aging. The back of that sanded neck and the super dark "rub" marks on edges and back is a dead give-away.
:k

Wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole. My guess is that it's super over-priced and they're ready to take the first $4/5k-ish "low-ball" that comes along.

That headstock shape is making me anxious. I don’t know for sure what’s off about it, but it gives me the willies.

Edit: Could be camera angles or the grain. Still, seems wrong.

Holy moly body is blatantly obvious refin - the red should be much closer to the original unfaded Fiesta Red under the pickguard if it was truly original paint. The neck isn't a 63 either - big headstock - it's a generic aftermarket 70's strat neck painted and stickered up to look the part. Maybe if the thing has original pickups and the guard, shield and wiring appear original so I guess if he wasn't shifty he could expect US$3000 all up. But clearly he's out for a killing...

Why does this think look like it's finished in polyester??
