Since most of you all wont see the actual article published in the UK mag, here is the part I contributed to the article.
It is a very famous bass and interesting finish.

Great story Curtis,  even loved the fact that it was a Harrison LP that cause the decal to be changed.

were there any photos of "under the hood"
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

Thanks for sharing the story Curtis. Just goes to show, nothing was unusual in the early 60's Fender factory!

That finish is so awesome!  Who'da thunk that Lake Placid Blue would look so good without a clearcoat?  And don't get me started on that red peaking through, rawr... :?

Oh yeah, and '59?  Can that even be correct?
