Interesting story on the buildup of a Russian 1958 Jazzmaster copy..

There is an interesting thread on a Russian forum about the buillding, by Shamray guitars in Russia, of a 1958 Jazzmaster copy.

The results aren't bad at all, IMHO (apart maybe for the name "Twang Master".....).

No, I'm not big on the name/logo either, but I'm impressed that they went to the effort to engrave it on the trem block. The 3D sunburst, glossy finish and flame maple neck all make it look more like a boutique offering than an old '58 vibe .. but if that's what they're after then fine.

Of course, there's the obligatory offset-bashing from some ignoramus:

.. some curves in its shape are out of natural proportion, IMHO. Of course, some kind of style in guitarmaking is based on unnaturality(for ex. Jazzmaster, Ibanez NDM.... etc ), but they don`t look so pleasant as, for ex. classical Les Paul or Explorer.
A Jazzmaster is unnatural next to an Explorer? ..

it's amazing...I cannot stand the bashing...a shape (jazzmaster) that balances perfectly is un-natural....  ::)

I guess some people mock what they do not understand.....

It's amazing that not everyone sees it as a beautiful shape ,to me it's a perfect design,a rare thing in design,a perfect shape, like the miura in side profile,i can't think of that many examples but the Jazzmaster body to me is one of them.(the stratocaster isn't even close IMO)

I was wondering what it was too, as it seems to be a nice 9-hole reproduction...
