The chrome wear on the trem was something I hadn’t seen before. Californian guitar, but grandson has had it in Arizona unplayed for a reasonable time too.
I am struggling to find the picture with this wear on the tremolo, can you help me out? I keep coming back to this and feel like I'm losing my mind trying to see it.

It's not just you.

I haven’t seen similar wear on similarly aged Jazz’s before.

Thanks, couldn't tell if this was a reflection. The additional pictures clearly show the wear. Pretty weird, haven't seen this happen either.

I have seen that happen on that exact piece on JM trems. I don't think it affects anything, could rechrome the piece if you mind.

Cheers. It’s purely cosmetic. Personally, I would leave as is.

That wear on the tailpiece I’ve seen loads of times. As I’ve mentioned previously it’s a dead ringer for my (April from memory) 1965. The finish, colour and aging is virtually identical. It’s 100% legit.

It looks almost identical to the L-series JM I was looking at in my local music shop. The consignor is asking $10+k CDN, and it isn't completely stock (Mastery bridge and Lollar pups).

Makes me wish I had saved my L-series JM, used it as a $1300 trade in many years ago... :fp:
