Did I make a mistake?

Not sure if any of you saw the supposed 1965 CAR Jag on reverb that was listed maybe 15 minutes ago but it was going for $988 so I made a brash decision and bought it. The neck appears to be legit but the body I’m not so sure about, mostly because the neck pocket looks to be sanded down and the wood looks too “fresh” for a 59 year old instrument if that makes sense.
Apparently it’s been refinished, the nut and frets have been replaced, and the bridge has been swapped for a mastery

Is it legit? Did I make a bad decision? If the neck is at least real it was worth it for that alone, right?

Did a quick image search, looks to be listed on ishibashi and eBay with same photos, not from USA though? I would exercise caution!

Thanks for looking into it! I actually just got a notice from Reverb saying my money’s been refunded with a message from the seller saying:

“hello there. my name is Megan Donley and someone must have hacked into my account because I do not have this guitar and did not list anything. I am reporting it to Reverb as soon as I figure out how to. I initiated this refund and hopefully it will go throught!
thanks!“

Should’ve known it was too good to be true! Just glad to have my money back now lol

Fantastic, hopefully all is sorted quickly!

A quick reverse image search is worth doing before any purchase these days unfortunately.

Yeah I’m definitely going to start doing that from now on, especially with gear I can’t try out in person!

A 1965 Jaguar E-Type (XKE) for $988 is extremely unlikely to be legitimate. Classic cars, especially sought-after models like the E-Type, reach into the tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. There's a high chance this is a scam listing.
However, if the purchase actually went through and you now have the car, it's crucial to have it inspected by a qualified mechanic immediately. They can verify the car's authenticity and assess its condition. It's also important to contact Reverb to report the suspicious listing.
Wow, now we have to deal with AI bots posting shit here.

Well, if these posts represent the level of conversation that AI is capable of, I am not too worried about Skynet happening anytime soon... ;D

If a bot, not a very bright one.

I think the major issue with AI is that it is currently an infant without parents. Imagine you have a baby that's just learning how its fingers work and you somehow connect its brain straight to the Internet without supervision. That's what AI currently is. It needs guidance and everybody's like "YOLO!".

Now, imagine said baby as a teenager. Thinks it knows everything and is right about everything, but hasn't had any parenting to temper it for the real world. There's Skynet.

Thanks for doing this.
Because when/why/how is it relevant/necessary/important for an AI bot to be part of a guitar forum ? And worse, to post ?

I have never seen an AI bot actively participate in a forum, that is truly bizarre.

Like, what is the end goal of that? A person utilizing a bot has nothing to glean by trying to contribute to forum discussions.

As for the Jaguar, yeah. If something's too good to be true, guess what?

I assume the end game is to find a new way to scam people.
