Possibilites:

1. Time machine. Unlikely due to apparant wear on the "brand new" guitar.

2. Idiot. All too likely, given the prevalance of idiots in the world.

That must be NOS Scuffing on the body and guard. It comes in a can and you can apply it to new guitars...

Apparently Fender was experimenting with relics back in 59 as well....
