not everyone is a selfish, greedy bastard. it's the guy's hobby and passion, fine, but these guitars have been taken out of circulation and posting a few pictures on a web page for some guitar nerds to go :? :? :? WOW NICE GUIATR MAN just seems to add insult to injury, in my eyes. hey guys, look at what you'll never, ever, get to play!

buy 2 or maybe even 3 of each if you have the means, but 30? i find that hard to justify.

Yeh it does get insane...since Ebay collecting is no longer a feat worthy of any praise. Anyone can amass huge piles of anything with enough cash.

I'm not looking for a pat on the back but if you knew the trouble I had to go to to get my first Fender VI pre-internet...it was very, very difficult..a very long saga indeed full of disappointments, skirmish and long journeys!

I have an Arp Solina keyboard in my studio..I was on a waiting list for 5 years at a vintage synth shop before I got one! Now you just pull up the net and it's all there ready to buy with one little click.

One guy I know collects arcade machines like Space Invaders etc..he is very rich...since ebay he now owns 250 full size arcade machines..everything you could ever imagine..he rents a warehouse to put them in like his own private arcade...switches them all on and plays them twice a year maybe...completely stupid in my eyes.

Pretty much what Eggwheat said, with added guitars should be used to make music and not to be photographed. There's nothing worse than a trailer queen that's never played.

I suppose I display a similar mania for collecting vinyl but I've played 95% of records I own at least a few times and they never cost ££££.

All that said I'm exceptionally jealous of the two 1959 Chet Atkins, too cool for school. :(

I don't think anyone here is getting *that* upset, but I feel like getting mad about guitar & equipment hoarders is kind of pointless. There are some threads over on the gear page that are pretty mind-blowing if you want to see people with massively huge collections of gear that they could not even possibly play.

Basically, there are a bunch of rich people out there that love guitars and gear and blow their money on stuff and that doesn't mean they won't enjoy the equipment for other reasons. At this point it is not a crime to collect cool things, whether they are matchbooks or vintage cars. There are many different ways people came to have all that money and gear. I have been able to play and enjoy music with new and vintage musical equipment despite these guitar hoarders. Yes, it might make certain things more expensive, but they'd just get snapped up by somebody else, like many of us OSG'ers who troll the internets and various stores across the globe looking for sweet guitars.

In my world, yes, I try to play all the stuff I own, but I do have two amps collecting dust.

Here are some of those other collections I was talking about. This stuff is not mine.

I'm gonna have to agree with you on this one... simply ridiculous.

These are warehouses full of assets. Massive collections of instruments and amplifiers that are hardly ever (if ever) used. This has little in common with us who have a few instruments that are beloved. Hey, I have 46 guitars and 13 amps and play them all regularly!
